The failing component is a CEC enclosure RIO card connection.

Before you begin

Note: Storage complex repair actions must always be managed from the management console. To replace any FRUs identified in this procedure, use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Exchange Parts. If the FRUs are listed in this or another Serviceable Event, select them from there.

About this task

Attention: When a CEC enclosure RIO card cable is disconnected, it might result in a lost connection between the units even after the cable is reconnected. To ensure that this does not happen always replace CEC enclosure RIO card FRUs using the Service Management > Manage Serviceable Events view or use the Exchange Parts option.

Note: If question marks (???) appear at the end of the location code, the port could not be determined. Use the location code associated with the other end of the cable. If question marks appear for both port locations, use the isolation procedures suggested in the Description/Action column of the reference code table for this SRC.

Procedure

  1. If you are working with this symbolic FRU in the FRU list, the failing component is a CEC enclosure RIO connection. The diagnostic code could not determine what kind of hardware was involved. The CEC enclosure RIO hardware can be any of the following:
    • Cable
    • Embedded RIO link in a planar
    • RIO Adapter card
  2. Choose from the following options:
    • If you are working from the serviceable event view, the location code or FRU description in the view will help determine the actual RIO hardware to exchange. Continue with the next step.
    • If you are not working from the serviceable event view, or the view does not have a location code or better FRU description, determine the location code of other FRUs (FRPORT and TOPORT) in the FRU list for the error. Then continue with the next step.
  3. Exchange the FRUs at both ends of the link and the cable between the FRUs.
  4. If the problem persists call your next level of support.

What to do next

This ends the procedure.
