RIOIP11

Use this procedure to recover from a B7xx6982 high speed link (HSL) failure.

RIOIP11 Section-1

Procedure

  1. Was a CEC enclosure on the RIO loop powered down for repair?
    • Yes, the loop remains in a failed state until all CEC enclosures on the loop are powered on and functioning. Complete the current repairs and return here.
    • No, continue with the next step.
  2. Use MAP4E20 RIO Topology tool to display the RIO topology status. Run the tool for both managed systems (CEC enclosures).
  3. Does the tool indicate an open RIO loop?
    • Yes, observe the RIO loop cable and connections. If the RIO loop cable is unplugged, reconnect it. If the RIO loop cable is visibly damaged, replace it. If there are no visible symptoms, replace the RIO loop cable. The cable can be hot-plugged without using a guided FRU parts-exchange procedure. After the problem is corrected return to step 2 above.
    • No, continue with the next step.
  4. Did the RIO loop recover?
    • Yes, return to the procedure that sent you here to close the problem. Problem is fixed. This ends the procedure.
    • No, continue with the next step.
  5. Search for an open serviceable event with a 1xxxxxxx SRC logged at approximately the same time and with one or more FRUs in the same CEC enclosure as those in the FRU list for the SRC serviceable event you are currently working.
  6. Did you find a serviceable event with a 1xxxxxxx SRC?
    • Yes, resolve that problem (after you resolve the problem, the RIO/HSL loop may be recovered) and then return to this procedure and determine if correcting that problem also corrected the RIO/HSL error. You can use MAP4E20 RIO Topology tool to display the RIO topology status.
    • No, go to step 8.
  7. Did the RIO loop recover?
    • Yes, return to the procedure that sent you here to close the problem. Problem is fixed. This ends the procedure.
    • No, continue with the next step.
  8. Search for an open serviceable event with a B7006981 SRC error logged at approximately the same time and on the same RIO loop.
  9. Did you find a serviceable event with a B7006981 SRC at approximately the same time and on the same RIO loop?
    • Yes, work on that problem. After you have repaired that error, the RIO/HSL loop may be recovered. After you complete working on that problem, return to this procedure and determine if correcting that problem also corrected the HSL/RIO error. You can use MAP4E20 RIO Topology tool to display the RIO topology status.
    • No, go to step 11.
  10. Did the RIO loop recover?
    • Yes, return to the procedure that sent you here to close the problem. Problem is fixed. This ends the procedure.
    • No, continue with the next step.
  11. Return to the procedure that sent you here and give the following answers to its questions. These answers will enable the Repair process to continue with the next FRU on the FRU list.
    1. To the question What was the result of using the service procedure from Infocenter?, click Problem not fixed and then click Next.
    2. To the question Did you exchange any parts?, click No and then click Next.
    3. To the question Did you isolate the problem?, click No and then click Next.

    This ends the procedure.
