About this task

The ESSNI server runs on the management console (HMC) and the ESSNI agent runs on each LPAR and is the low-level interface that allows the customer to manage the storage. There are two methods for the customers to communicate with ESSNI:
  • DS Storage Manager (also known as ICAT), the IBM graphical user interface.
  • DS CLI, which is the command-line interface that the customer can use to create their own scripts.
