MAP2600 Pseudo FRU exchange needed to reset existing FRU

The FRUs that are listed in the serviceable event FRU list after this isolation MAP have a condition that does not require replacement of the FRU. However, the FRU must be logically reset. Use this MAP to perform a pseudo repair of the FRU.

MAP2600 Section-1

About this task

Were you sent here because MAP2600 is listed in the FRU list of the serviceable event you are repairing?

MAP2600 Section-2

Procedure

  1. Display open serviceable events for the storage facility. Other than the serviceable event that sent you to this MAP, are there any other related open serviceable events that list one or more of the same FRUs as the serviceable event which called this MAP (for example, a power module in the same primary power supply)?
    • Yes, exit this MAP.
Use the other serviceable event(s) to replace the affected FRU(s).
Close the serviceable event that sent you here (if not closed by the repair).
    • No, continue to the next step.
  2. Contact your next level of support. They will help determine whether it is safe to perform a pseudo repair of a power resource, or whether other action is required.

Was a pseudo repair directed by next level of support?

    • Yes, continue with step 3 to perform the pseudo repair.
    • No, exit this MAP and follow directions given by next level of support.
  3. Understand this special case repair action:
    • The serviceable event FRU list contained MAP2600, followed by one or more rack power system FRUs (for example, the RPC card, primary power supply, fan sense card, or battery module set).
    • There are no other open serviceable events that call for actual replacement of these FRUs.
    • One or more of the listed FRUs do not need to be replaced, but they must be logically reset.
    • A FRU will be logically reset when you perform a pseudo FRU exchange.
  4. Perform a pseudo exchange of the FRUs:
    1. Return to the HMC repair screen that sent you here.
    2. One or more HMC repair screens might ask the results of the service procedure in the MAP. Select the options that indicate that the problem has not yet been fixed.
    3. Click No when asked if you exchanged any parts.
    4. Click Yes when asked if you isolated the problem.
    5. Select the next FRU in the list. The HMC should then begin the FRU exchange process for the selected FRU.
    6. After the FRU has been prepared for replacement, the HMC will automatically launch the Service Information Center page for the parts exchange information.
Perform a pseudo exchange of the FRU:
      • Do not touch the FRU or any attached cables.
Exception: For pseudo exchange of DC-UPS DSU, disconnect and reconnect the cables in order, when directed. The ground cable can be left connected.
      • Do not physically remove and reinstall the FRU.
      • Close the Service Information Center procedure and then return to the HMC repair screen to continue the repair.
    7. The FRU verification process will logically reset the FRU.
    8. Exit this MAP and complete the repair action at the HMC.

MAP2600 Section-3

Procedure

  1. Understand this special case repair action:
    • You were sent here from an isolation MAP.
    • One or more of the listed FRUs do not need to be replaced, but they must be logically reset.
    • A FRU will be logically reset when you perform a pseudo FRU exchange.
  2. Did the procedure that sent you to MAP2600 mention that the cables connected to the FRU must be disconnected to create the reset?

MAP2600 Section-4 (disconnect the cables)

Procedure

  1. The FRU will be logically reset when you perform a pseudo FRU exchange.
  2. Perform a pseudo exchange of the FRUs:
    1. Return to the HMC repair screen that sent you here.
    2. One or more HMC repair screens might ask the results of the service procedure in the MAP. Select the options that indicate that the problem has not yet been fixed.

    6. After the FRU has been prepared for replacement, the HMC will automatically launch the Service Information Center page for the parts exchange information. Perform a pseudo exchange of the FRU by doing the following:
      • Disconnect and reconnect the cables in order, when directed.
      • Do not physically remove and reinstall the FRU.
      • Close the Service Information Center procedure and then return to the HMC repair screen to continue the repair.
    7. The FRU verification process will logically reset the FRU.
    8. Exit this MAP and complete the repair action at the HMC.
