MAP4091 DSA translation

Use this procedure when you are directed from another MAP.

MAP4091 Section-1

Procedure

  1. The Direct Select Address (DSA) might be coded in word 7 of the system reference code (SRC) of the serviceable event. To determine the value of word 7, see MAP1216 Displaying primary system reference code (SRC) extension words.
  2. This is either a PCI system bus number or a RIO loop number, depending on the type of error. You should be able to isolate a failing PCI bus or RIO loop using the information obtained here and the information in either Table 1 (for PCI bus numbers) or Table 2 (for RIO loop numbers, or "loop number-to-NIC ports"). Follow the instructions below to translate the DSA.
    1. Break down the DSA into the bus number, multi-adapter bridge number, and multi-adapter bridge function number as shown in the tables below. The DSA is of the form BBBB Ccxx, and breaks down into the following parts:
      • BBBB = bus number
      • C = multi-adapter bridge number
      • c = multi-adapter bridge function number
      • xx = not used
    2. Is the bus number (BBBB) less than 0684?
      • Yes, the bus number is a PCI bus number. See Table 1to convert the number to decimal and then go to the next step.
      • No, the bus number is a RIO loop number. See Table 2 to convert the number to decimal and then go to the next step.
    3. Using the HMC, view the properties of the managed system in order to determine if the bus is located in the system unit or expansion unit.
    4. Perform one of the following tasks:
      • Refer to MAP4092 Card positions to search for the bus number, the multi-adapter bridge number, and the multi-adapter bridge function number that matches the system unit or I/O tower type where the bus is located. This ends the procedure.
      • Use the HMC RIO topology menu option to determine the state of the RIO nodes (the leading node and the trailing node). See MAP4E20 RIO Topology tool.
