MAP4930 SRC BE362601 Wrap test failed

The host adapter port wrap test has failed.

MAP4930 Section-1

Procedure

  1. You were directed to this MAP after an I/O enclosure host adapter port wrap test failed. When it failed, it immediately opened the serviceable event that sent you here. Even if the wrap test was rerun successfully, this new serviceable event stayed open because it was not automatically closed.
    • Only one new serviceable event is opened for each host card that has the wrap test fail for one or more ports.
  2. Select the following that applies:
    • Before being directed to this MAP, a wrap test was rerun successfully for this host adapter port. Another wrap test is not necessary and the host card does not need to be replaced. Go to step 3.
    • A wrap test needs to be rerun to determine if the host adapter port is still failing. Go to step 4.
    • Wrap tests do not need to be rerun. The failing host card needs to be replaced. Exit this MAP and return to the serviceable event FRU list to replace the host card.
  3. Do a pseudo repair of the host card. Pseudo repair means using the FRU exchange process, but when directed to do a physical replace of the FRU, the current FRU is left untouched and the rest of the repair action is continued.
    • If you were sent to this MAP because of a wrap test failure during the installation of more than one host card, the FRU listed in the SRC might or might not be the one that failed the wrap test. A pseudo repair of each of the host cards must be done.
    • Go to step 5.
  4. Run the host adapter port wrap test to determine if the host adapter card needs to be replaced. Do the following:
    1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility.
    2. From the bottom Task area, click Service Utilities > Manage FRUs.
    3. Click Show IO Enclosures, select the enclosure location, and then click Show Host Adapters.
    4. Ensure the wrap tool is correctly seated in the HA port shown in the FRU list.

Optional: If multiple wrap plugs are available, you can seat a wrap plug in each port and test all ports at the same time.

    5. Select the Host Adapter that has the location code shown in the FRU list and click Perform Wrap Test.
  5. Did the test run successfully?
    • Yes, exit this MAP and then close the serviceable event and any related serviceable events.
    • No, exit this MAP and then return to the serviceable event FRU list to replace the host card.
