MAP4A60 Verify resources before restarting CCL code update
MAP4A60 Section-1
About this task
Procedure
-
There should only be one serviceable event left open
from the MAPs that sent you here. Do you have only one serviceable event open, and is its SRC =
BE9CxxC0 or BE9CxxC1?
- Yes, go to the next step.
- No, contact your next level of support.
- Is a storage facility image
LPAR in service mode? See MAP1100 View storage facility state (end of call) . Note: This is a normal condition during the code update process that would have been automatically reset if the code update process had continued without error.
- Yes, go to next step.
- No, continue with step 8.
-
Is the SRC of the serviceable event that sent you
here equal to BE9C56xx or BE9C66xx (install was in
progress)?
- Yes, contact your next level of support.
- No, go to step 4.
- Remove the 'norsstart' file.
- From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility > SF image.
- From the right work area, select the appropriate storage facility image.
- From the bottom Task area, click Service Utilities > Reset No-rsStart.
- Resume the LPAR.
- From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility > SF image.
- From the right content area, select the SF image.
- From the bottom Task area, click Service Utilities > Change/Show LPAR State.
- In the Additional Information field, is there a note that the LPAR is fenced?
- In the Additional
Information field, is Resume listed as a valid action?
- Yes, click Resume LPAR and follow the directions. After the resume is complete, continue with step 8.
- No, contact your next level of support.
- Is either RPC card in service
mode? See MAP1100 View storage facility state (end of call). Note: This is a normal condition during the code update process that would have been automatically reset if the code update process had continued without error.
- Yes, contact your next level of support.
- No, continue with step 9.
-
Are there any open serviceable events with an SRC of BE9C7xxx?
Note: This indicates that the code update process was updating host adapters.
- A host adapter card and host adapter port
that has completed its code update will have a state=0. Determine
the state of the host adapter cards and host adapter ports. Note: For definitions of states other than 0, see MAP1100 View storage facility state (end of call).
- From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility.
- From the bottom Task area, click Service Utilities > View Storage Facility Resource States.
- In the View Resources State window, check the State for the IBM.EssHA and IBM.EssHAPort resources.
- Are there any host adapter cards or ports with a state other than 0?
- The code update may complete successfully
if the card is quiesced and resumed. A pseudo repair using the HMC Exchange
Parts option will be used to force this.
- Contact your next level of support.
From the Review Resources State screen, provide support personnel with the Identifier value (third column) of the card/port that has a state not equal to 0. (An example of an Identifier is cpssfc0232.)
Support personnel need to determine the specific location of the FRU. This is the MTMS (machine type model serial) of the I/O enclosure and the physical location (PCIe slot) in which the card resides (for example, U1400.1B2.102ABBA-P1-C3).
- Contact your next level of support.
- Use the location code of the host adapter card to do the
pseudo repair. This means you do the complete replacement procedure
but do not disconnect any cables or remove the host card. Use the
Exchange FRU option to replace the FRU.
- From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility.
- From the bottom Task area, click Exchange Parts. Select the exchange option that contains the FRU to be exchanged. A window opens and displays the enclosures.
- Select the enclosure location code, and then click Show FRUs.
- Select the FRU location code, and then click Exchange FRUs.
- Is the control switch for CUIR (Control Unit Initiated Request) enabled on the storage facilities images that were being updated?
- Close the serviceable event that sent you here and go to step 15.
- Restart the code update process.
- From the navigation area, click Updates.
- From the right work area, select the radio button for the existing storage facility. The bottom Task area displays a list of tasks you can select.
- Click Update Storage Facility Code. An Action panel opens.
- Select Storage Facility Image and click OK. The panel will indicate update in progress.
- Click Resume.
