MAP66C0 Managed system states displayed by the HMC

The state of the managed system is displayed for the State label.

MAP66C0 Section-1

Procedure

  1. Display states for a server (CEC enclosure).
    1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Server View > server.
    2. From the bottom Task area, click Properties. A window opens and displays several information tabs.
  2. Display states for a partition (LPAR) for a storage facility image (SFI).
    1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Server View > server.
    2. Select the partition (SFxxxxxxxESS0x).
    3. From the bottom Task area, click Properties. A window opens and displays several information tabs.
  3. Refer to Table 1 for the State definitions.
    Table 1. Managed system power on states
    State Description
    Error The managed system's operating system or hardware is experiencing errors.

    To recover this state, go to MAP6650 Correcting the CEC enclosure operating state.
    Error - Dump in Progress The managed system has started a system dump.
    Error - Terminated The power-on operation failed.
    Incomplete The management console did not receive all of the necessary information from the managed system.

    To recover this state, go to MAP6650 Correcting the CEC enclosure operating state.
    Initializing The managed system is powering on.
    No Connection The management console cannot contact the managed system.

    To recover this state, go to MAP6650 Correcting the CEC enclosure operating state.
    Not Available The partition is powered off.
    On Demand Recovery The old capacity card has been replaced; enter the activation code.
    Operating The managed system is powered on and functioning normally.
    Power off The managed system is powered off.
    Recovery The partition data and profile data stored in the managed system is damaged.

    Running The LPAR DS8000® code is operational.
    Standby The managed system has been powered on using the partition standby power-on option.
