The problem is resulting from one of the following: the CEC enclosure VPD cannot be found, the CEC enclosure serial number is not programmed, or the CEC enclosure feature code is not programmed.

Before you begin

Note: Storage complex repair actions must always be managed from the management console. To replace any FRUs identified in this procedure, use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Exchange Parts. If the FRUs are listed in this or another Serviceable Event, select them from there.

Procedure

  1. Record the reason code (the last four characters of word 11) from the system reference code. Table 1 shows the reference code format.

  2. Is the reason code A46F?
    • Yes, go to step 3.
    • No, go to step 5.
  3. Replace the CEC enclosure service processor card, see Note above. Then perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure Does the problem persist?
    • Yes, go to step 4.
    • No, this ends the procedure.
  4. Replace the CEC system I/O backplane assembly, see Note above. Then perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure. Does the problem persist?
    • Yes, call your next level of support for assistance. This problem might be resolved by installing the latest version of Licensed Internal Code (LIC).
    • No, this ends the procedure.
  5. Is the reason code A460?
    • Yes, go to step 6.
    • No, go to step 7.
  6. Set the enclosure serial number. See MAP4060 Restoring VPD after replacing the CEC enclosure VPD card and perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure. Does the problem persist?
    • Yes, call your next level of support for assistance. This ends the procedure.

  7. Is the reason code A45F?
    • Yes, go to step 8.
