Before you begin

Note: Storage complex repair actions must always be managed from the management console. To replace any FRUs identified in this procedure, use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Exchange Parts. If the FRUs are listed in this or another Serviceable Event, select them from there.

Procedure

  1. Has a CEC enclosure memory DIMM (Un-P2-C1-Cx or Un-P2-C2-Cx) been replaced?
    • No, go to step 10.
    • Yes, a CEC enclosure memory DIMM attention line has an error. Continue to the next step.
  2. Replace the CEC enclosure service processor card (Un-P1-C11) in the same CEC enclosure.
  3. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure.
  4. Does the problem persist?
    • No: This ends the procedure.
    • Yes: Continue to the next step.
  5. Replace the CEC enclosure system processor card (Un-P2-C1 or Un-P2-C2) on which a CEC enclosure memory DIMM has been replaced.
  6. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure.
  7. Does the problem persist?
    • No: This ends the procedure.
    • Yes: Continue to the next step.
  8. Replace the CEC enclosure I/O backplane assembly (Un-P1) in the same CEC enclosure as the CEC enclosure memory DIMM.
  9. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure. This ends the procedure.
  10. Has a CEC enclosure system processor card (Un-P2-C1 or Un-P2-C2) or GX adapter card (Un-P1-C8 or Un-P1-C9) been replaced?
    • No: Go to step 16.
    • Yes: A CEC enclosure system processor card or GX adapter card attention line has an error. Continue to the next step.
  11. Replace the CEC enclosure service processor (Un-P1-C11) from the CEC enclosure as the CEC enclosure system processor card or GX adapter card.
  12. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure.
  13. Does the problem persist?
    • No: This ends the procedure.
    • Yes: Continue to the next step.
  14. Replace the CEC enclosure I/O backplane assembly (Un-P1) from the CEC enclosure as the CEC enclosure processor card or GX adapter card.
  15. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure. This ends the procedure.
  16. Was the CEC enclosure I/O backplane assembly (Un-P1) explicitly called out as a FRU before starting step 1 of this procedure?
    • No: Contact your next level of support. This ends the procedure.
    • Yes: A P5IOC2 attention line has an error. Continue to the next step.
  17. Replace the CEC enclosure service processor card (Un-P1-C11) from the same CEC enclosure as the CEC enclosure system backplane.
  18. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure.
