MAP2750 Section-1

Procedure

  1. Display open serviceable events and display the details to determine the listed FRUs.
    Are there any open serviceable events that list FRUs related to the visual symptom you are here to repair, including power distribution units (PDUs)?
    • Yes, exit this MAP and repair the related serviceable events. Return here if the visual symptom still exists after all related serviceable events have been repaired.
    • No, go to the next step.
  2. At the rear of Rack-1, check that all power junction assembly (PJA) input and output power cables are connected and are not visibly damaged.
    1. If any input or output power cables are disconnected, reconnect them to the affected PJA now.
    2. Note the connection location of any visibly damaged cables.
    3. Continue at the next step.
  3. Observe all LEDs on both PJAs. Refer to Table 1 and take the appropriate action.

  5. On the affected PJA, are the LEDs for input connectors J4, J6, and J8 all lit?
    • Yes, LEDs for J4, J6 and J8 are all lit. Input power is good, and one or more output power LEDs is not lit. Go to MAP2750 Section-3 PJA problem.
    • No, at least one LED for J4, J6 or J8 is not lit. Go to the next step.
  6. Did you notice visible damage on an input power cable connected to J4, J6 or J8 of the affected PJA?
  7. At least one LED for input connectors J4, J6 or J8 is out (not lit). Temporarily disconnect the input power cable from the affected connector.
  8. Temporarily disconnect the input power cable from a connector showing power (LED lit for J4, J6, or J8) and connect it to the affected connector. Is the LED for the affected connector now lit?

MAP2750 Section-2 PJA input power problem

About this task

You have identified a problem with input power to a PJA and will further isolate the input power problem.

Procedure

  1. Were you sent to this section with visible damage on an input power cable connected to J4, J6 or J8 of the affected PJA?
    • Yes, replace the affected power supply. Go to step 7.
      Note: The power supply assembly includes the cable that connects to the PJA.
    • No, go to the next step.
  2. Confirm that the power cable is properly connected between the affected 12V power supply and its PDU. Refer to Table 3 and find the affected PJA input connector and read across to identify the affected PDU port and power supply.

  3. Is the 12V power supply properly connected to its PDU?
    • Yes, go to step 5.
    • No, reconnect the cable between the 12V power supply and its PDU. Go to the next step.
  4. Observe the LED for the affected PJA input connector. Is the LED now lit?
  5. Observe the LED for the PDU port that the affected 12V power supply is connected. Refer to Table 3. Is the PDU port LED lit?
  6. Has the affected 12V power supply already been replaced?
  7. Replace the affected 12V power supply.
    Note: This repair can be performed as a "hot plug." There is no need to use a serviceable event or the "exchange parts" menus.
    1. Disconnect the 12V power supply cable from the affected PJA port.
    2. Disconnect the input power cable (between the 12V power supply and the PDU) from the 12V power supply.
    3. Unfasten the hook-and-loop fasteners and remove the 12V power supply. Unfasten any cable ties as required to remove.
    4. Install the new 12V power supply fasten the hook-and-loop fasteners.
    5. Connect the input power cable to the 12V power supply.
    6. Route the 12V power supply cable to the affected PJA port and connect.
    7. Fasten any cable ties as required.
  8. Go to MAP2750 Section-4 Check PJA after repair.

MAP2750 Section-3 PJA problem

About this task

You have identified a problem with a PJA. Replace the PJA.
Note: This repair can be performed as a "hot plug". There is no need to use a serviceable event or the "exchange parts" menus.

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the input power cables from PJA ports J4, J6, and J8.
  2. Disconnect the output power cables from PJA ports J1, J2, J5, J7, and J9.
  3. Loosen the nut that secures the retaining bracket at the top of the PJA.
  4. Slide the retaining bracket up and remove the PJA.
  5. Install the new PJA.
  6. Slide the retaining bracket down to secure the PJA and tighten the nut.
  7. Connect the output power cables to PJA ports J1, J2, J5, J7, and J9.
  8. Connect the input power cables to PJA ports J4, J6, and J8.
  9. Go to MAP2750 Section-4 Check PJA after repair.

MAP2750 Section-4 Check PJA after repair

Procedure

  1. Observe the LEDs for the affected PJA. Are all LEDs now lit?
    • Yes, all LEDs are lit. Go to the next step.
    • No, not all LEDs are lit. Restart this procedure at MAP2750 Section-1, step 1.
  2. Was a problem noted with the other PJA that has not yet been repaired?
    • Yes, return to MAP2750 Section-1, step 3 to continue with the other PJA.
    • No, go to the next step.
  3. Was visible damage seen on an output cable (connected to a PJA) that has not yet been replaced?

About this task

A cable connected to one of the output ports of either PJA is visibly damaged.
All PJA output cables are "Y" cables; they connect to both PJAs and to the device.
Management console power cables are part of a cable bundle that is replaced as a single unit.

Procedure

  1. Is the damaged cable part of the management console main cable bundle (connected to PJA output connectors J1 or J2)?
  2. Is the damaged cable an Ethernet switch power cable (connected to PJA output connectors J5 or J7)?
  3. Is the damaged cable the management console display power cable (connected to PJA output connector J9)?
    • Yes, go to the next step.
    • No, your problem cannot be resolved in this section. Restart this procedure at MAP2750 Section-1, step 1, or exit this MAP and contact your next level of support.
  4. Power the display off using the power button on the front panel.
  5. Disconnect the display power cable from output connector J9 on both PJAs.
  6. Remove screws at the top and bottom of the display panel.
  7. Carefully remove the display panel from the frame.
  8. Disconnect the power cable from the right side of the display panel.
  9. Use the old power cable to pull the new power cable through the cable channel from the front to the rear of the rack.
  10. Connect the new power cable to the right side of the display panel.
  11. Carefully install the display panel in the frame and secure with screws at top and bottom.
  12. Connect the display power cable to output connector J9 on both PJAs.
  13. Secure the power cable as required.
  14. Power the display on using the power button on the front panel.
  15. Repair complete. Exit this MAP.

MAP2750 Section-6

About this task

If this is the direct PJA which is the power controller to the microbay(s), go to MAP2750 Section-11. Otherwise, continue with the following procedure.

Procedure

  1. Display open serviceable events and display the details to determine the listed FRUs.

    Are there any open serviceable events that list FRUs related to the visual symptom you are here to repair, including I/O enclosures?

    • Yes, exit this MAP and repair the related serviceable events. Return here if the visual symptom still exists after all related serviceable events have been repaired.
    • No, go to the next step.
  2. At the rear of Rack-1, check that all power junction assembly (PJA) input and output power cables are connected and are not visibly damaged.
    1. If any input or output power cables are disconnected, reconnect them to the affected PJA now.
    2. Note the connection location of any visibly damaged cables.
    3. Continue at the next step.
  3. Observe all LEDs on both PJAs. Refer to Table 4 and take the appropriate action.

  7. Replace the I/O enclosure PCIe and PCN (-P1-C7) card. Go to Exchange the I/O enclosure PCIe and PCN card. Return here when finished.
  8. Go to MAP2750 Section-9 Check PJA after repair.

MAP2750 Section-8 PJA problem

About this task

Note: You can complete this repair as a "hot plug." There is no need to use a serviceable event or the "exchange parts" menus.

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the input power cable from PJA port J4.
  2. Disconnect the output power cables from PJA ports J1, J2, J5, J7, and J9.
  3. Loosen the nut that secures the retaining bracket at the top of the PJA.
  4. Slide the retaining bracket up and remove the PJA.
  5. Install the new PJA.

  9. Use the old power cable to pull the new power cable through the cable channel from the front to the rear of the rack.
  10. Connect the new power cable to the right side of the display panel.
  11. Carefully install the display panel in the frame and secure with screws at top and bottom.
  12. Connect the display power cable to output connector J9 on both PJAs.
  13. Secure the power cable as required.
  14. Power the display on using the power button on the front panel.
