MAP6200 Reloading the management console LIC bundle

Use this MAP to reinstall the licensed internal code for the management console.

MAP6200 Section-1

Procedure

  1. Ensure that you were sent here from MAP6020 Management console problem determination or from Exchange the small form factor management console.
  2. Contact your next level of support now.
    1. Ask the customer whether embedded Copy Services Manager (embedded CSM) is in use on the management console that is being reloaded.
    2. Notify your next level of support that you are reloading a management console. They need to know:
      1. The LIC bundle level to be reloaded on the management console.
      2. Whether the management console is in a single-HMC or dual-HMC configuration.
      3. Whether embedded CSM is in use on the management console that is being reloaded.
    3. Your next level of support provides:
      1. The correct recovery media level to use.
Note: The recovery media might be at a higher level than was originally shipped with the system.
      2. If needed, a specific ICS (install corrective service) image for use with embedded CSM in dual-HMC environments at LIC bundle level 88.2x.xxx.xxx.

The CDs/DVDs are in the HMC Recovery Kit. Before continuing with this reload of the HMC, contact your next level of support to confirm you have the correct recovery kit.

Important: You MUST contact your next level of support. They provide the correct recovery media level to use for your specific bundle level. In some cases, they will also provide an ICS level to be installed during the rebuild.

Table 1 lists the three CDs/DVDs that you need to reload the HMC code for earlier bundle levels, through 87.51.xxx.xxx.
Table 2 lists the single DVD that you need to reload the HMC code for later bundle levels, starting with 87.52.xxx.xxx.

    Notes:
    1. A kit number is on each CD/DVD (below the IBM® logo; for example, KIT: 23R0133). Ensure that all of the CDs/DVDs have the same kit number.
    2. Your HMC is probably at a higher LIC bundle level than the recovery kit that you have. You install the recovery kit and then use CDA to update HMC code to the desired level. If you are not sure whether the code level of the managed storage facilities matches the code level of the recovery kit, contact your next level of support.
